SUNBAN FORTE CREAM SPF 50+ BROAD SPECTRUM

SUNBAN FORTE CREAM  SPF 50+ BROAD SPECTRUM

Hi Guys…

Just that sun has slightly started showing out its effects in the mornings at Chennai, and that my easy tan skin has started showing some visible tans in my hands and slipper marks in my foot… Am picking one of my HG sunscreen creams for use & review.. This was prescribed to me by my dermatologist..

COST:

Rs. 385/- for 60gms (sometime 3 months back) Not sure if the rate has changed now...

SHELF LIFE:

24 months

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

There is no such thing given on the carton or the tube. Am giving you what my derma instructed… Nothing complicated. She asked me to apply the cream 20 mins before I step out into the sun and additionally she asked me to apply Ponds orange oil control powder. (The powder says sun protection TPI-60)

COMPOSITION:

Octyl Methoxycinnamate      USP 8.5% w/w
Oxybenzene                           USP 3.0% w/w
Titanium Dioxide
Micronised silica coated        6.0% w/w
In a cream Base                      QS
Methylparaben                       IP 0.2% w/w
Propylparaben                       0.02% w/w

Few More details on the Tube:
UVA/UVB
Ratio 0.51
CWL 370 nm

(I don’t know what all these stuff mean. I blindly went with this product, because I trust my dermatologist)

MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE PRODUCT:

As I previously mentioned, I blindly accepted this product, trusting my derma.

To mention about my skin type. I’ve a very dry skin. Can’t even imagine stepping out without a moisturizer.  And my skin is highly sensitive to sun that it gets tanned quickly. I tried almost all sunscreen products, that it would do me some good.. But all of it went in vain.

Luckily I met my friend one day. She was glowing. She told about the derma prescribed creams that changed her skin.. That was when I first stepped to the derma, with blind trust.

Ok let’s take a quick review. It smells pleasant and mild... And am happy that it doesn’t smell chemicals. My derma said that this cream was prescribed even for swimmers… After I started using this cream, I didn’t find any new tans, it didn’t vanish my old tans. The burning sensation that I had while standing in sun was far less... only disappointment I had was, it leaves my skin greasy and makes skin look darker... So I’ve to go on a face wash once I step into office.. And I believe that was the purpose my derma suggested me oil control powder. I used that powder one day, but didn’t like using it, because it leaves a white cast on my face.

CONS:
  • «  Makes skin look dark on application
  • «  Makes skin look greasy
  • «  Expensive
  • «  Parabens(am happy on the percentage used)

PROS:
Am mentioning the pros in the end cause, I’ve only one valid reason why I need it…
  • «  It’s important that it, “DOESN’T TAN” my skin
  • «  Worth the cost
  • «  Travel friendly pack... Doesn’t occupy space.

RATING:

4. 9/ 5 (-0.1 for the greasy feel) I love this product so much, that I can’t give lesser than this..

WOULD I RE-PURCHASE IT??

Yes…
Until my derma suggests a better product than this.

P.S:  Am not personally recommending this to anyone.. This is a review for people to know how the product is, if their dermatologist has prescribed it for them..

Dermas suggestion for sunny days
·         Wear gloves
·         Use shades
·         Wear socks
·         Wash your skin, after exposure to sun
·         After a wash, apply moisturizer. Cause the mildest of soaps can also rip oil from your skin.
·         Keep yourself hydrated.
